Royce King Sports took a trip to Glasgow Park in Newark, DE to witness and participate in Humble but Hungry’s (HBH) Inaugural Father’s Day 5K Event. Humble but Hungry is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization created to help serve those less fortunate in the community, and to inspire education, health, and wellness. HBH was founded by CEO, George Corbin, Jr. “Originally, Humble but Hungry was going to be a club where people could run, cycle, and swim for health and wellness,” Corbin said. However, after realizing a larger need in the community for helping the homeless and countless others, HBH decided to begin their initiative. “People sometimes confuse being humble with being weak, but you can still be hungry and strive for success while showing signs of humility,” Corbin replied when asked about the name of the organization. “We want people no matter where they come from or their current position in life to be humble, but remain hungry”,”Don’t become complacent,” Corbin said. Humble but Hungry is striving to help reach individuals in several communities outside of Delaware as well, with the aim of creating chapters on a national scale. The HBH team has held clothing drives and fed those in need of a meal reaching some 200-300 individuals each time.
The Father’s Day 5K Event was the first of many to come for the HBH team. Participants enjoyed an exciting race along the Glasgow Park trails where families walked, ran and cycled their way to wellness. A few members of the Royce King Sports team joined in the fun and our very own videographer, Trevon Hall, placed 2nd in the 14-19 age bracket. The race covered three miles and featured 135 participants plus their families. The HBH 5K Event was sponsored by Fusion Race Timing, the Bear-Glasgow YMCA, Nick Wallace Photography, Herr’s, G&G Moving, Elite Feet, Caruso’s Bistro, and Fit Team.
