For the first time this season, the Los Angeles Sparks will take on the Minnesota Lynx in what will be an epic finals rematch. As the top two teams in the league once again, the Lynx and Sparks will battle it out in the Xcel Energy Center, tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
The Lynx who have won three WNBA titles, and are currently number one in the league, boast a 12-1 overall record. Having won their last three games in a row, the Lynx are looking to carry that momentum into tonight’s match-up and redeem themselves from last years heart-breaking one point loss. Minnesota is led by Sylvia Fowles who averages 20.7 ppg and 10.1 rpg. Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus are the teams second and third leading scorers with 16.4 and 11.6 ppg, respectively. Guard Lindsay Whalen leads the Lynx in assists with 4.6 apg.
Although tonight’s game is just a regular season match-up, it has become a much anticipated rivalry that fans and players look forward to. After winning their first championship in 14 years, the Sparks who are on an eight game win streak, hope to continue their success on the road with another victory. Currently 12-3 on the season, the Sparks are led by Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Parker. Ogwumike averages 19.4 ppg and 6.7 rpg, while Parker tallies 17 ppg, 8.3 rpg, and 4.6 apg.
