Celtics vs. 76ers Preview

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Boston Celtics (0-2) will take on the Philadelphia 76ers (0-1) at Wells Fargo Center.

Celtics will play the remainder of the season without All-Star Gordon Hayward (out w/leg injury). Marcus Morris will miss the first three games of the season due to right knee soreness.

Kyrie Irving is the new face of the franchise after being traded to Boston from Cleveland. He is currently averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals. Jaylen Brown is leading the Celtics in scoring at 21.5 points per game. And, rookie Jayson Tatum is averaging a double-double of 11.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Sixers are without forward/center Richaun Holmes (fractured left wrist).

Ben Simmons made is NBA debut posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. Joel Embiid only needed 27 minutes to tally 18 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block. Robert Covington leads the Sixers in scoring after a 29 point (9/15 FG, 7/11 3PM, 4/4 FT), 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks performance. While, number one overall draft pick, Markelle Fultz chipped in 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block in 18 minutes of action.
