2018 IHSAA Lafayette Jefferson Boys Basketball Sectional Tournament Kicks-Off, Tuesday

Lafayette, Ind., — In Indiana we don’t just play basketball, we grow basketball here. At any and every level, ball is life and finally, the time has come to crown a champion. With the regular season all wrapped-up, it’s time for post season play in the Indiana High School Athletic Association.

Four hundred and three (403) teams will compete in the 108th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament, presented by the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. 

Sectionals are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 27, and run through Saturday, March 3, with regionals set for March 10 and semi-states on March 17. The four championship games that make up the state finals will be played on Saturday, March 24, in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Lafayette Jefferson High School will host the 2018 IHSAA Class 4A Sectional 7 Tournament. Competing teams in this sectional include: Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos, Logansport Berries, McCutcheon Mavericks, Kokomo Wildkats, Harrison Raiders, and Zionsville Eagles.


Tuesday, Feb. 27
G1: Kokomo vs. Lafayette Jeferson (6:00 PM EST)
G2: Zionsville vs. Logansport

Friday, Mar. 2
G3: McCutcheon vs. Winner of G1 (6:00 PM EST)
G4: Harrison (West Lafayette) vs. Winner of G2

Saturday, Mar. 3
Championship: Winner of G3 vs. Winner of G4 (7:30 PM EST)

Kokomo (12-11) and host Lafayette Jeff (16-7) will get the ball rolling in Game 1 of Sectional 7 with a 6:00 PM (EST) tip-off on the Bronchos’ home floor.

Shawn Harmon, Andrew Bowes, and Royce King have been tabbed as the officiating crew for Tuesday’s opening game, as well as Friday’s game (G4) between the Harrison Raiders and the victor of the Zionsville vs. Logansport game.

Guided by Head Coach Bob Wonnell, the Kokomo Wildkats played their final game of the regular season on Feb. 20 at Fishers. In a hard fought battle that saw 13 lead changes and nine ties, Fishers came out on top, 58-53. Seniors Anthony Barnard and Trajan Deckard led Kokomo in scoring with 19 and 17 points, respectively.

The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos and Head Coach Scott Radeker, closed out the regular season strong when they defeated nonconference opponent Western High School by a score of 56-44. Sophomore Avery Beaver and senior Marell Jordan led the Bronchos in the scoring column with 20 and 18 points, respectively. Senior Nathan Thomas grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
