Washington Defeats Indiana 93-84

Indianapolis, Ind., – For the second time this season, the Washington Mystics and the Indiana Fever squared off in another match-up Thursday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Despite a strong first half of hot shooting (51.6 percent) from the field and posting a season high of 84 points, the Indiana Fever would fall victim to the Washington Mystics by a final score of 93-84.

After making the decision to add Kelsey Mitchell to the starting line-up, Indiana seemed to have found that jump start needed to set the tone against a familiar opponent. With the game all knotted up 28-28 at the end of the first, Indiana was unable to maintain their production on the offensive end as the Mystics went on a 17-2 run to take a 36-30 lead before stretching out their advantage.

Still in search of a win the Fever continue to struggle to put together a complete game falling to 0-4 on the young season for the first time since 2001. The rookie Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana in scoring for the second straight game, putting up a career-high 25 points in her first start of the season. Candice Dupree also finished in double figures with 21 points and led Indiana in rebounds with seven. Tiffany Mitchell added 13 points and seven assists in the team’s loss.

Indiana will return to the hardwood on Saturday night as they face the Connecticut Sun on the road at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tip-off is at 7 PM ET on WNBA League Pass.
