Minneapolis, Minn., – On Tuesday night the streaking Minnesota Lynx hosted the Indiana Fever at the Target Center. The Lynx who had won seven straight were met by a hungry Indiana squad who put an end to their reign.
With just 1:49 remaining in the fourth, veteran Cappie Pondexter nailed the go ahead three-pointer to give Indiana the 71-59 victory. Tuesday’s win gives the Fever just their second win of the season as Pondexter made her Fever debut finishing with 12 points and five rebounds.
Throughout the first three quarters, the game was neck and neck as the Lynx and the Fever traded runs. At the half, Indiana held the slim 34-32 advantage as Natalie Achonwa paced her team with 10 first half points. For Minnesota, Rebekkah Brunson was the go getter of the evening dropping 10 points to end the half. She would finish with 13 points and 12 rebounds as Minnesota’s only scorer in double digits. The Lynx had an off shooting night shooting just 33 percent from the field. Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus would each tally nine points in the loss.
Achonwa would lead Indiana with 17 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Victoria Vivians with 13 points.
