Friday Night Hoops

The Atlanta Dream (10-9) will play host to the Indiana Fever (2-18) tonight at McCamish Pavilion, as the two teams square off for their fourth and final time during the regular season. Indiana is going for their third win of the season as they look to bounce back after a loss to Minnesota on Wednesday. The Fever previously defeated the Dream, 96-64 earlier this season. Meanwhile, Atlanta is riding high after a record setting 106-89 victory over the Washington Mystics that saw four players notch 20 plus points and at least five assists in a win. The Dream shot a lightning 60 percent from the field as Angel McCoughtry led Atlanta with 24 points and six assists.  Jessica Breland tallied 23 points and dished out seven assists, while Tiffany Hayes and Renee Montgomery each added 21 points to go with five assists in the Dream’s statement win on Wednesday.

Over at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Connecticut Sun (10-10) and Phoenix Mercury (14-7) will be hashing it out, as both teams are seeking a win after recent losses. The Mercury currently lead the season series having defeated the Sun twice this year, but fell to Dallas on Tuesday, in a 29-point defeat after Diana Taurasi left the matchup early due to illness. Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner combined for 41 of the teams 72 points, and Yvonne Turner added 10 points in the loss. Connecticut looks to redeem themselves at home, after suffering a 79-76 loss at the buzzer to New York. The Sun led by as much as 10, but Shavonte Zellous would bank in the triple to give New York the victory. Chiney Ogwumike paced Connecticut with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Alyssa Thomas finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Also schedueled to tip-off at 7 PM ET, is the Chicago Sky (7-13) and Washington Mystics (12-8) at Washington. The Mystics currently hold the 2-1 series advantage over the Sky this season, but have lost two games straight. Their most recent loss came at the hands of the Atlanta Dream, where the Mystics gave up 106 points. Natasha Cloud and Elena Delle Donne led Washington with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Chicago is also coming off a loss after falling to Las Vegas on Tuesday. The Aces outscored the Sky 32-15 in the second quarter before stretching out their lead. Chicago’s Diamond DeShields led the Sky with 15 points.

The final matchup of the evening is between the Las Vegas Aces (9-12) and Minnesota Lynx (12-8) at 8 PM ET. The Aces who have won their third straight, will go for a fourth against the formidable Lynx. In their victory over Chicago, Las Vegas had four reach double figures led by Kayla McBride with 18 points. McBride shot 75 percent from three-point land knocking down 3 of 4 triples, while Kelsey Plum hit two of her own to finish with 14 points in the win. Minnesota aims to be more consistent in their play as they face the Aces for the first time this season. Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx to victory over Indiana on Wednesday, after dropping 20 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out seven assists. Maya Moore also added 19 points in the win as the Lynx return home to host the Aces tonight.
